Recovery Act Replace/Upgrade Fire Alarms, VA Medical Center

Hampton, VA

This project involved the upgrade and replacement of fire alarm system in 13 separate buildings at the active VAMC in Hampton. All buildings stayed in complete operation during construction. Work included electrical, fiber optic and fire alarm modules as well as modifications to existing flow and tamper switches. Work also included certified fire stopping systems. All arms reported back to central systems modules and monitoring stations and wiring was run both interior of buildings as well as in existing exterior ductbanks or new ductbank. Work included repairs to existing surfaces disturbed by installation of new/up graded panels and/or pull stations/strobes and included ceiling tile repairs/replacement/patching and painting of walls, coordination of work as to not interfere with mission of VA Hospital. Infection disease controls were in place in all areas required.

Upon successful completion of this project, Adira was awarded two more fire alarm replacements at the VA Hampton to include Fire alarm Phase 3 as well as Fire alarm Testing.
